Guldusi-Schal "Zakera"
"Guldusi" is the Afghan translation for "embroidery". At the same time „Guldusi“ a project to give Afghan women the opportunity to earn money with their skills and give them access to education. At the same time, the project aims to ensure that the tradition of hand embroidery is passed down through the generations (http://www.guldusi.com/).
"Guldusi scarves" are dedicated to the Zonta-Club-Bielefeld. 50% of the proceeds from the sale goes to the Afghan Women's Association e.V. www.afghanischer-frauenverein.de. The donation will finance a "training tailoring in Kabul" and literacy course for Afghan women and girls.
The four different scarves are named after the embroiderers of the depicted women: "Mariam", "Sobaira", "Shukria" and "Zakera". Each scarf shows three embroidered motifs and a typical border all around. The images are framed by a pattern print of the Zonta symbol. The overall color scheme of the scarves reflects the richness of color and vibrancy of the original embroidered motifs.
